We have all heard about beans, peas, and lentils but why are we referring to them as ‘Pulses’? Basically, ‘pulses’ are part of the legume family of foods that include dried beans, peas, and lentils. Pulse Canada is an organization that represents growers, processors, and the trade of pulses in Canada. They have a great explanation to what a pulse is – and no this is not how to measure your heart rate. (Although, pulses are a good food group for a healthy heart!) Eating pulses is an easy way support your health and support a sustainably future.
